Marcus Rashford surprises Man Utd with decision despite brutal Ruben Amorim axe.

Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United for pre-season training on Monday and Tuesday despite being given more time to find a new club but the 27-year-old is among five players United have said could return to Carrington later if a move is not secured.

But the England international is still at the Red Devils’ training centre. Rashford has been working out on his own and has not taken part in any meetings with the rest of Ruben Amorim’s squad, according to The Athletic.

Among those players is Matheus Cunha, who joined for £62.5m and took the No. 10 shirt from Rashford, who took to social media on Tuesday to announce that the club had taken Rashford’s number 10 shirt. United said on Friday that Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia would be available to return in late July amid uncertainty over their futures.

Carrington’s medical and rehabilitation services will continue to be available to players during their extended summer break. It was reported last week that all five players had asked to leave United, but some of the players’ representatives have denied this.

Garnacho has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Napoli, Anthony Martial is wanted by Real Betis and Sancho is reported to have agreed terms with Juventus in Italy. Meanwhile, Malacia is said to be struggling to attract buyers.

Barcelona are favourites to sign Rashford after missing out on top target Nico Williams, who has signed a new 10-year deal with Athletic Bilbao. Luis Diaz recently rejected an approach from Bayern Munich, but Liverpool are an option.

Rashford is reportedly willing to take a £325,000-a-week pay cut and is keen to move to Barcelona, with United demanding £40m on loan. Talks between the clubs are ongoing over a potential £63m deal, with the Red Devils keen to raise funds before making further signings beyond Cunha and Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Amorim is keen to revamp his attack, with Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho and Antony on the radar. If they manage to offload their unwanted stars, United could also look to sign Liam Delap to Chelsea earlier this month, and Viktor Gyokeres who worked with Amorim at Sporting Lisbon is also set to enter the striker market.
